Rich Murphy, the firm’s managing partner, is focused primarily on construction, real estate and surety matters; he also has experience in a wide range of commercial litigation cases.  He represents owners, developers, contractors, specialty contractors, suppliers and others involved in the development and construction industry.  Rich frequently defends licensed contractors before the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. He also serves as a private mediator and arbitrator in commercial litigation cases.

Representative Experience

Owners: Representation of commercial building owners in purchase and sale transactions, financing, leasing, and other business matters, including litigating disputes with contractors, tenants and others

Developers: Representation of those involved in the development and redevelopment of commercial and retail projects such as office complexes, buildings, and retail shopping centers

Contractors: Representation of commercial contractors, including drafting and review of contracts; payment and performance disputes, including lien related work; delay claims; surety issues and general business matters

Administrative Law: Representation of licensed contractors before the Arizona Registrar of Contractors

Specialty contractors: Representation of specialty contractors, including review of subcontracts, payment and performance disputes, lien work and other issues faced by specialty contractors and subcontractors.

Suppliers: Representation of construction – industry suppliers, including lien and other payment issues

Business Owners: Representation of business owners, including litigation of business disputes, shareholder, partner and member disputes, and purchase and sale of businesses

Surety Work: Representation of sureties, including claims handling and defense, performance issues, and other issues relating to contractor license bonds, payment and performance bonds, conservator and probate bonds, motor vehicle dealer license bonds and other surety instruments

Mediation and Arbitration: Private mediation and arbitration of construction, real estate and commercial disputes
